    How the fishing-times tool works

The FishTide tool brings together, on one screen, the factors anglers usually weigh before heading out: tides, the moon, the Hijri calendar and Haml/Fasad days, wind, temperature and air pressure, and each species' season in your region. Pick your country and spot, and the tool shows a fishing score for the day and its best hours, with short reasons behind each score so you can see why a day is good or poor rather than just a number.

    Where the numbers come from

    An example day

Say you are in Kuwait on a day with light wind and steady pressure, the first two hours after high tide are an ebb window, the moon is in an active period, and the Hijri table rates the day among the best for shore fishing. You will see a high score, with the reasons listed: light wind, a strong tide window, an active moon period. If instead a strong wind blows onto the shore, the score drops and the tool suggests a boat or another day, because shore fishing in heavy wind and swell is hard, tiring and may be unsafe.

    Limits of the tool

The score is a planning aid, not a guarantee of fish. Many other factors play a part that we cannot measure: water temperature and clarity, fishing pressure at the spot, bait and tackle, and your own skill. Always check the official weather bulletin and local fishing rules before going out, and put safety first.
